How does the lingual appliance workThe lingual appliance functions if exactly the same way as the conventional system which is bonded to the external side of the teeth. A metal archwire is made by the specialist and tied into a slot with elastics or steel ligature wire. The knowledge and manual dexterity of the orthodontist is fundamental when determining the form of this archwire. This because the archwire, although deformed when tied into the badly positioned teeth, will return to its original arch form and thus bring the teeth with it. The lingual appliance works equally well in either arch, upper or lower.
However some people prefer to place the lingual appliance in the upper and transparent brackets in the lower. The example below with the brackets of "sapphire crystal", the latest release of the industry worldwide.
