There is nothing to stop an adult from using as appliance due to age. A limitation would be the general health of the structures which support the teeth. These are periodontal problems which can occur at any age, even in children. The principal difference between adults and younger people is the time it takes to move teeth. In adults the biological reaction is slower and as a result it takes longer to move the teeth through the bone. The consequence is that the treatment time can increase to a certain extent.
