Does the lingual appliance hurt the tongue, at least at the beginning?

Some years ago we used to warn the would-be patients that it takes approximately thirty days for a person to get used to the appliance. However, nowadays, the more recent brackets are much smaller and more rounded and the majority of poeple only need four to six days.
